Job Description

High Meadows School in Roswell, Georgia, approximately 30 minutes north of Atlanta, is accepting part-time (25 hours per week), on-site, Kindergarten Learning Assistant applications for the 2025-26 school year . The school takes pride in hiring dynamic, compassionate, and diverse faculty and staff who are among the finest in their areas of expertise. This position is non-exempt for purposes of wage and hour regulations.

 

This part-time role involves assisting with classroom management, providing individualized student support, and helping with instructional and creative tasks to enhance the curriculum and student experience. 

 

Working hours for this position are 25 hours per week, 5 hours each day, Monday – Friday. Hours are paid via time sheet. The Early Years Principal will supervise this position and sign time sheets for payment. Hourly rate depends on experience in similar role.

Essential Job Functions

Our teachers:

  • Assist the Lead Kindergarten Co-Teachers in classroom management and supervision to ensure a safe and positive learning environment. 
  • Be comfortable and prepared to be out of doors most of the day in all weather scenarios. 
  • Be able to hike one to two miles daily on variable terrain in all types of weather while carrying 25-35 pounds. 
  • Attentively supervise outdoor play. 
  • Take the initiative to manage student interactions while adhering to Positive Discipline.
  • Initiate response to student situations independently while remaining calm and steady, following up with collaboration with lead teachers when necessary. 
  • Help prepare, maintain and organize all classroom materials, including inside/outside instructional materials and outdoor supplies. 
  • Support daily activities, including circle time, story-time, and hands-on learning experiences. 
  • Assist in implementing lesson plans and student activities under the guidance of the Co-Lead Teachers. 
  • Accompany full kindergarten classes to specials classes.
  • Help students adjust, learn and socialize and inform teachers about classroom behavior situations.
  • Communicate effectively with the teaching team and contribute to a positive, collaborative work environment. 
  • Supervise students during transitions, meadow, lunch, and other school activities. 
  • Help with classroom cleanup, getting students ready for carpool and organization at the end of the day.
  • Perform additional duties as requested by the Co-Lead Kindergarten Teachers and/or Elementary Principal to support student learning and classroom operations that can change from time-to-time. 

The Campus

High Meadows School sits on 42 wooded acres in Roswell. The school is housed in several buildings spread across the two meadows on the property. We have an active barnyard on campus, serving as the home for horses, sheep, bunnies, and chickens. Faculty and staff must be comfortable traveling between buildings in all types of weather, participating in outdoor activities on the meadows and in the forest, and intermingling with animals.

Minimum Education/Prior Experience/Qualifications Required

  • 21 years of age 
  • Experience working with children
  • Experience teaching or experience with individualized learning support
