ABOUT FAMILY ABUSE CENTER

Family Abuse Center is a nonprofit organization dedicated to providing comprehensive services to individuals and families affected by domestic violence. Our mission is to eliminate domestic violence in Central Texas by sheltering victims of domestic violence and by preventing abuse from occurring through intervention and education.

GENERAL DESCRIPTION AND PURPOSE:

The Director of Residential Services will oversee all aspects of the daily operations of the Family Abuse Center's emergency shelter, ensuring the highest standards of safety, care, and compliance with applicable policies. The Director will be responsible for managing a multidisciplinary team, including resident advocates, case managers, the hotline coordinator, children’s advocate, and the Food Service Coordinator. Key areas of focus include personnel management, program evaluation, policy adherence, shelter operations, and client case management. This role requires strong leadership, crisis management skills, and the ability to respond to emergencies at all hours, providing on-call support when necessary. This role will directly liaison with the Board of Directors Governance Committee to oversee all matters related to FAC compliance with internal policies, external regulations, and industry best practices.

QUALIFICATIONS:

The ideal candidate will possess a blend of advanced education, extensive experience in personnel management, and expertise in policy compliance within the social services field.

Education:

  • Master’s degree in social work or a related field (LMSW preferred) with extensive experience in social work, crisis intervention, and case management.

Experience:

  • 5+ years of progressive experience in domestic and/or sexual violence services, including direct case management.
  • 3+ years of supervisory or management experience, demonstrating strong personnel oversight, training, and performance evaluation.
  • Experience managing diverse teams and working with vulnerable populations.
  • Proven ability to drive program development, compliance monitoring, and reporting.

Skills/Abilities

  • Demonstrated leadership and ability to mentor and develop high-performing teams.
  • Expertise in crisis management, policy interpretation, and conflict resolution.
  • Ability to prioritize and handle multiple, competing responsibilities while maintaining high organizational standards.
  • Proficiency in data management, reporting, and maintaining compliance with regulatory standards.
  • Exceptional communication skills, both oral and written, with the ability to represent the organization externally.
  • Strong organizational and problem-solving abilities.
  • Bilingual abilities strongly preferred.
  • Technologically proficient in Microsoft Office suite.

License/Credentials:

  • LCSW, LMSW, or LPC strongly preferred.
  • Food Manager’s License and First Aid/CPR certification required or obtainable upon hire.
  • Valid Texas Driver’s License and a clean driving record.

RESPONSIBILITIES:

  • Oversee all day-to-day shelter operations, ensuring adherence to state and federal regulations as well as internal policies.
  • Supervise, mentor, and develop shelter staff, ensuring continuous training and professional growth opportunities.
  • Manage shelter services, including case management, client intake, conflict resolution, and emergency interventions.
  • Create and enforce policies and procedures to ensure the safety and well-being of shelter residents and staff.
  • Coordinate and oversee shelter data collection, program evaluations, and reporting for compliance and funding purposes.
  • Maintain on-call schedule and provide emergency support to shelter staff and clients when necessary.
  • Foster a welcoming, safe, and supportive environment for all clients, ensuring their rights and grievances are managed professionally.
  • Collaborate with the Executive Director and leadership team to recommend improvements to shelter operations and direct service policies.
  • Assist with intern program development and supervision as applicable.
  • Maintain proper documentation of all shelter-related activities, client services, and outreach programs.
  • Ability to maintain shelter operations during emergencies and crises, with support from the Executive Director.
